From the Start, We Set the Standard

In the late 1940s, Mr. Stephan Nowak made the bold move to buy land at Boundary and Canada Way in order to start his own lumberyard. His lumberyard quickly became established as a landmark in the developing area. As his business grew, Stephan brought his three sons, Stan, Hank and Ed into the thriving family business.

Stephan passed away in 1986, Stan, the oldest of the Nowak boys, retired in 1990 and the property was then sold. A new store was built in Burnaby at Still Creek Avenue.

With the move and the addition of a second location in North Vancouver, Standard Building Supplies Ltd., has experienced steady growth over the years due its quality products, large building material selection and its friendly, knowledgeable staff.
